Policies & Procedures
Complete your Application
Fill out the application in its entirety (please complete one application per child). Please apply early; our small classes fill quickly. If you would like to select alternate classes, in the event your first choices are full, complete the alternate class lines. To register for more than four classes attach a separate sheet of paper with your additional class choices.
Mail, Fax, E-Mail or Deliver your Application
Send your completed application to: Saturday Academy, Registrations, PO Box 8728, Portland, OR 97207-8728. The application needs to arrive with: a check for tuition, a MasterCard or VISA authorization, or a request for tuition assistance. Applications are processed in the order receieved. Tuition Assistance
Saturday Academy is committed to making it possible for any interested student to participate in classes and workshops regardless of his or her financial situation. Tuition assistance is available thanks to the generous support of donors and is awarded on a sliding scale based on family income and circumstances. The application is simple and confidential. Tuition assistance for Marine Campout is limited.
Families with an annual income of less than $36,000 are eligible for tuition asssistance. Larger families and those with special circumstances but higher incomes may also be eligible.
To request tuition assistance, simply mark the "Tuition assistance form requested" box on the registration form. We will send you an application and, if there is room in the class, we will hold the student's place while we process your request.
Your enrollment in the class is pending until you return the tuition assistance form to us. Once we process your form we will send you confirmation that your enrollment is complete. Class information will not be sent until your enrollment is complete. Tuition assistance requests will not be accepted less than one week prior to the class.
Required Attendance
Attendance at the first class is required for most courses. Students missing the first class risk being withdrawn from the class with no refund.
Expectations
Saturday Academy is for interested and motivated students who are willing and able to participate in class. Please let us know in advance if your student has special learning needs. Our instructors make every attempt to provide a successful learning experience for all students. Disruptive students or students who are unable or unwiling to participate in class will be withdrawn from class. No refund will be given.
Enrollment Procedures
- You will receive notification, by standard mail, of your registration status within two weeks of applying.
- If you are enrolled, you will receive details and directions approximately one week before the first class.
- If you do not receive this information three business days before the class, please call our office at 503.725.2344 during business hours (Monday - Friday; 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM).
- Our office is not open on the weekends.
- If the class is full when your application arrives, you will be notified and placed on a waiting list.
- If there is insufficient enrollment, the class will be cancelled and you will be notified by mail or phone.
Cancellation Policy
All cancellations must be submitted in writing. You may email (sareg@pdx.edu) or fax (503.725.2335) or mail your cancellation notice. You will receive confirmation, either by email, phone or mail, that your cancellation was received and processed.
Refund Policy
- All withdrawals are subject to a $25 non-refundable processing fee.
- Partial refund (75% of tuition less $25) will be issued for withdrawals occuring 7 - 11 business days (M - F) prior to the first class meeting.
- No refund will be issued for withdrawals 6 business days (M - F)or less before the first class meeting.
- No refund or credit will be issued if you fail to attend the class.
- Full refund will be issued if the class is cancelled.
- Two weeks notice is required to receive a refund for Marine Campout. No refund will be issued for cancellations with less than two weeks notice.
Transfer Policy
You may transfer out of one class and into another class, 7 business days or more before the first class meeting. You may transfer once at no charge. All additional transfers are $25. You may only transfer within the same term.
We are unable to offer transfers 6 business days or less (M - F) before the first class meeting.
Gift Certificates
Saturday Academy is delighted to offer gift certificates for classes. You can purchase a gift certificate for any amount and apply it toward tuition for any Saturday Academy class. For more information, call us at 503.725.2344.
Certificate of Completion
When you complete a Saturday Academy class, you will receive a certificate that documents your participation. These certificates can be used for:
- Portfolios
- College admission applications
- Scholarship Applications
