Saturday Academy's Apprenticeships in Science and Engineering
The ASE program offers high school students the opportunity to work with professional mentors for the summer. Opportunities range from biomedical research to computer programming to environmental science and many things in between. See more information here.
The Berry Botanic Garden
A non-profit, seven acre garden in Portland with plants from around the world. They offer one summer internship for a high school student plus volunteer opportunities in horticulture or conservation of endangered species. To apply, send a letter of interest. The Oregon Humane Society
Offering volunteer positions to those 16 and older. In addition, they offer a Service Learning Program for 12-15 year olds. Participants take care of animals, do clerical and office work, greet visitors, and help with maintenance. Visit their website for more information.

Offering a volunteer program for those interested in restoring wildlife habitat, leading nature tours, and helping care for our regional parks. Visit their website for more information.
The Oregon Zoo
Offering the Zoo Teen Volunteer program for students entering 9th-12th grade. Participants should have an interest in animals and a desire to learn and share with other. Participants must make a summer-long commitment to the program in order to volunteer. Visit their website for more information.
Internship Opportunities for College Students
INROADS/Oregon, Inc.
Offering business-based internships to college students of color. Apply as a High School Senior, College Freshman, or College Sophomore. There are no deadlines, but opportunities are based on availability. Check their website for a current list of companies with open positions.
The Intel Scholarship Program
This program available through Intel sites throughout the U.S. Recipients of these scholarships are selected as incoming freshmen from in-state high schools, and the award is renewable annually for up to 4 years.
