Scholarships & Programs

Students — Looking for opportunities to explore further what you have learned at Saturday Academy? Interested in turning your Saturday Academy experiences into scholarships for college?

Here is a sampling of scholarships, competitions, and other opportunities that you might find interesting. Most of these opportunities are annual, so if application dates have passed, keep them in mind for next year.

Competitions and Scholarships

  • Intel Northwest Science Expo

A science fair for 5th-12th graders in Oregon and Southwest Washington. Winners compete at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair for prizes and scholarships. The expo is held in late-March or early-April each year. For more information visit their website.

  • Intel Science Talent Search

America’s oldest and most prestigious science research contest for high school seniors, with awards ranging from $5,000 to $100,000 in scholarships. For more information visit their website.

  • Oregon Junior Academy of Science

A professional conference showcasing high school student scientific research. At OJAS, students present their research and are eligible to be selected to present their research at either the American Junior Academy of Science national meeting or the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium.   • Siemens Competition in Math, Science & Technology

A research-based competition for high school seniors. Scholarships of $3,000 to $100,000 are awarded to projects that have scientific merit for the improvement of society. For more information visit their website.

  • ThinkQuest

An international website-building competition sponsored by the Oracle Education Foundation. Teams of students and teachers are challenged to build websites on educational topics. Winners' sites are published and winning teams receive prizes. Learn more here.

  • Toshiba/NSTA ExploraVision Awards

A competition for students in grades K-12 who are enrolled full-time in a public, private or home school. The purpose of the competition is to encourage students to combine their imaginations with the tools of science to create and explore a vision of a future technology.
