The Transmission and Distribution Planning Department is a team within Portland General Electric. They are responsible for studying the performance of the electrical grid and developing projects to sustain high reliability system performance in the 1-to 5-year horizon.
The selected intern will support a Planning Engineer in reviewing and documenting PGE's transmission and distribution system ratings. The intern will act both independently and with a Planning Engineer to gather and organize information from engineering drawings and databases.
Under the supervision of the Planning Engineer, the intern will apply principles of electric circuit analysis to determine sets of system facility ratings that will be used for operations and planning for future system infrastructure upgrades. The position requires use of Microsoft Excel and Word, as well as various engineering drawings and databases. Successful applicants will have excellent problem solving, communication, and organization skills, as well as an interest in math and science. Intern will need to obtain a security badge on the first day of employment with PGE. If the intern visits any substation, safety gear and fire resistant clothing is required. PGE will arrange clothing, if site visits are necessary.
