Quantum computing offers a non-conventional computational paradigm that has the potential to outperform existing computers. This project aims at demonstrating some quantum advantage by simulating several important quantum algorithms on a small-scale using online quantum software and hardware platforms (such as IBM Q Experience).
The intern chosen will read and learn basic principles of quantum computing, practice quantum software and hardware tools focusing on IBM Q Experience, implement quantum circuits of selected quantum algorithms (e.g. Quantum Fourier Transform or Grovery Search), and conduct performance analysis. By the end of the summer, the intern will gain an understanding of some basics of quantum computing and quantum algorithms, learn to implement quantum circuit diagrams, and use software to simulate quantum algorithms.
