Mentor, A Siemens Business, develops and markets software tools for the design and project management of sophisticated electronic and electro-mechanical systems (such as cars, airplanes, robots, pacemakers, etc.). Electronic and electro-mechanical systems are very difficult to design, debug, and manage. Models can make it possible to virtually assemble the systems, define and manage relationships among components, and simulate their behavior on a computer. This approach is more insightful, faster, and cheaper than physically building prototypes and testing them. As these systems become larger, with a greater number of components and development engineers, it is difficult to manage requirements, tasks, and project schedules without using software tools.
The intern will participate as a member of a small development team. Her or his role will be to develop new software functionality and test it for defects, as well as documenting these developments. S/he may engage in activities in web programming (server and client side), mobile apps, and/or mathematical modeling, based on his/her skills and interest.
