Saturday Academy Residencies

Bring Saturday Academy residencies to your student group (Grades K-8) (formerly SA2U)

Do your students need extra support in a specific subject, a greater academic challenge, or an engaging, fun activity after school? Our small class sizes and hands-on, project-based learning allow our expert instructors to meet students where they are, providing tailored education for every learner.

Bring a Saturday Academy STEAM residency to your school or neighborhood organization! Choose from a variety of applied subjects, including science, critical thinking, creative play, technology, engineering, art, writing, and math! Browse available residencies here.

Grant funding is available for Title 1 schools and community-based organizations, and tuition assistance is provided for students in all of our classes.

Why Choose a Saturday Academy Residency?

  • Residencies are available to all students attending the hosting school, organization, or community group
  • Hands-on, project-based classes that apply STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) concepts
  • No required tests, homework, or grades
  • Small class sizes (5-15 students per instructor) for individualized attention
  • Customizable to meet specific learning needs, interests, and educational goals
  • Taught by content-area experts
  • Supports students in developing the skills to meet Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS)

Request a Residency

  • How to Schedule a Residency
  • Residency Logistics
  • Tuition & Registration Models
Select from the following:
  • Identify a facilitator for your student group who will work with SA to schedule the class, communicate with families, and if possible, attend the class to support students as needed. If your student group is part of an organization, the facilitator will also request permission from an organization lead or school principal to host an online class.
  • Talk with your students to identify a class topic(s) or subject, such as science, tech, engineering, arts, math, writing, medical, or college prep.
  • Determine options for class timing and frequency, between six and twelve hours total. Classes are generally held once per week, Mon. - Fri. for up to 90 minutes a session.
  • Contact youthprograms@saturdayacademy.org with an outline of the details above to discuss details, including a tuition and registration model.
  • Saturday Academy will then generate a Residency offer with your considerations in mind and send you a proposal to suit your needs.

  • For technical assistance before and during class, including access to computers or the internet, contact our Operations team at 503-200-5858 or email info@saturdayacademy.org.
  • If a class is cancelled due to emergency weather or illness, we will do our best to reschedule.

Organization/School Model

  • Price  per contact hour will be reflected in your offer, and is paid in two installments to Saturday Academy by the school/organization: once at the halfway mark, and once upon completion of the program.
  • Includes supplies, although specialized classes may require additional materials or an equipment rental fee (see class descriptions for details).
  • The organization facilitator is responsible for advertising the class and registering the students.
