  • Who are Saturday Academy classes for?
Select from the following:

Approximately 10 to 14 days prior to the class start date, information about specific buildings and classroom numbers will appear in the Parent Dashboard of your Saturday Academy website account. Please check the dashboard frequently for the most current information about your class. Click here to get a overview of features in the Parent Dashboard.

We typically reserve classrooms at various schools, colleges and universities across the Portland-Metro area.

Find out more about how to register online or by mail. If you need additional help, contact our registrar at 503.200.5858.

Your dashboard provides all of the information you need for an upcoming class or internship. Parents, instructors, ASE applicants and mentors with accounts will all have dashboard views in addition to household views.

If you are a parent or guardian registering your student(s) for classes, your Household view includes:

  • Household Contacts: These are the people (usually grown-ups) who manage the account for students participating in classes or camps and pay for enrollment. There is the option to provide a primary contact and a secondary contact.
  • Students: These are the people (usually kids) who attend classes and camps. Each student listed under your household includes their date of birth, current school, medical and media releases, emergency contact and any special needs.

The PARENT DASHBOARD includes:

  • Class information: Building and classroom locations and any additional information about upcoming classes.
  • Find our more about your dashboard.

If you are a student applying for or participating in an ASE internship, your Household view includes:

  • Application information: This is your application and the internships for which you have applied and ranked.

The STUDENT DASHBOARD includes:

  • Updates: The status of your application, such as whether a recommendation has been received, or if you've been accepted into an internship.

If you are an instructor, your Household view includes:

  • Your information: This is your Household Account and includes all of your contact information.

The INSTRUCTOR DASHBOARD includes:

  • Class information: Building and classroom locations and any additional information about upcoming classes.

If you are an mentor, your Household view includes:

  • Your information: This is your Household Account and includes all of your contact information.

The MENTOR DASHBOARD includes:

  • Potential intern information: This includes a list of the interns applying for your apprenticeship opportunity and their applications, as well as your rankings of each intern applicant.

Note that if you are both a parent and an instructor or a mentor, you will need a unique email address and dashboard for each role.

Ideally, items left behind in classrooms will be found by instructors and returned to the Saturday Academy main office. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee this. If we do receive lost items, they will be held in the main office for 30 days. Please contact us to see if we have your lost item.

As a rule, our all-day classes and camps do not provide lunch. If your child will be attending an all-day class or camp, please provide your child with a peanut-free lunch. Students may not leave the class site to purchase a lunch.

Saturday Academy is a peanut-free zone.

Please contact us at 503-200-5858 with questions about accommodations and accessibility and we will do our best to support your student. Our classroom locations are ADA accessible.

For ongoing, COVID-19 updates and our summer camp safety protocols see: https://www.saturdayacademy.org/covid19-virus-statement

Saturday Academy classes are for students in Grades 1-12, and best serve students who may need extra support in a class topic, an extra challenge, or simply something fun to engage in outside of school. Classes are focused on Science,Tech, Engineering, Arts & Math themes and are project-based and curiosity driven.  SA Instructors are passionate about their subject-areas, and are trained in culturally responsive and trauma-informed teaching. In short, SA is led by nerds and our classes inspire every kid to find their inner nerd too!

While cancellations on our part are a rare occurrence, they do happen occasionally. We do everything that we can to avoid it, but at times we must make the hard decision to cancel a class. If Saturday Academy cancels a class and cannot reschedule, we offer a full refund of the tuition paid. Cancellations may be due to:

  • Weather
    • If a class is cancelled due to weather, we make every effort to reschedule. We do not issue refunds for a change in program due to weather if we are able to reschedule the class.
  • Instructor illness or emergency
    • In this case, we do our best to find a replacement instructor or reschedule the class before cancelling.
  • Health and COVID 19
    • Saturday Academy used to require a doctor’s note for an illness-related refund. However, given the Oregon Health Authority's recommendations and guidelines regarding the COVID-19 virus, if your child is being quarantined (including self-quarantine at home), we will refund the tuition paid.
  • Low-Enrollment
    • As a nonprofit, each of our classes require a minimum number of total enrollments in order to run. This ensures a quality class as well as financial viability. If enrollment is lower than 3 students, we will make the call to cancel with advanced notice to give you time to readjust to the inconvenience. Please help us avoid low enrollment by encouraging friends to sign up!

If you have any questions or concerns about a class cancellation, contact Eric Polgar, Director of Operations.

Saturday Academy currently processes coupons as rebates. If you would like to redeem a coupon or voucher, please enter the code in the box provided on the payment screen. You will pay the full price of the class, and will receive a rebate within 5 to 10 business days. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please contact Eric Polgar, Director of Operations with any questions or concerns.

Tuition assistance is also available on a sliding scale based on household income and family size. There is no application.

We ask that you register your child for classes designated for their grade level. This will ensure your child, as well as the other students in the class, have the best possible experience. If you are seeking a grade exception, please check the Grade Exception box during registration. Saturday Academy staff will then contact you for more information. Note: The grade level listed for each summer class refers to the grade a student will be entering in the upcoming school year. For school year and spring break classes, the grade level listed refers to the student's current grade.

Media Release Information

Do we have your permission to use your child's image on our website or in print materials? One of the best ways for us to show students what is like to be in one of our classes, camps or internships is through photos and videos! The more we can get, the better. Occasionally we take photos or video footage of classes and camps. We do not use names with photos and will not share any images with any outside parties. As you register, click the media release option to let us know whether or not you agree to letting us use your child's image on our website or in print materials.

Medical Consent

By registering, you agree to give consent to treat my student in case of a medical emergency. You understand that all efforts will be made to contact you immediately in the event of an emergency.

Permission for Travel

Students could be outside their classrooms during class hours, but are always supervised by Saturday Academy staff. For classes that involve field trips, whether walking, van, bus or public transportation, students are with their instructor at all times. By registering, you give permission for you child to participate in any potential field trip(s) associated with this Saturday Academy class. For questions about a specific class, please call 503-200-5858.

Saturday Academy is for curious students who are willing and able to participate in class. Please let us know in advance if your student has special learning needs. Our instructors make every attempt to provide a successful learning experience for all students. If a student disrupts the learning of others or is unable or unwilling to safely participate in class they will be withdrawn from class. No refund will be given.

In the event of an issue in class, please contact us as soon as possible after the first day of class. If possible, we will work to remedy the situation with the instructor and improve the class for everyone.

We do not process transfers. If you wish to transfer to a different class after completing registration and payment, you will need to cancel the class in your account, add the new class to your locker and register for it. Please note that our withdrawal policy will apply to these cancellations.

If a class or camp is full, you can request to be added to the waitlist. There is a cap on the number of students that can join the waitlist. When seats open in a class, we will contact students on the waitlist in order, and allow 24 hours for the student to register for the spot. After 24 hours, the seat will be offered to the next student on the waitlist.

Please note that if you register for a “backup” class as an alternative to a class for which you are on the waitlist, our cancellation/refund policy will apply if you are offered a seat in the waitlisted class and choose to cancel the “backup” class as a result.

Unfortunately, we have no way of knowing if or when seats will open in any given class.
