Saturday Academy to You (SA2U)

Bring SA2U classes to your student group (Grades 1-12)

Do your students need extra support in a class topic, an extra challenge, or simply something fun to engage in after school? Our small class sizes and project-based, curiosity-driven content allows instructors to meet students where they are at.

Bring a SA2U class to your school or neighborhood organization and choose from a variety of applied topics in math, writing, biology, medical, tech, engineering, art, or speech and debate. Our SA2U class catalog now includes online and in-person options.

Grant funding is available for Title 1 schools and community based organizations, and tuition assistance is also available to students in all of our classes.

SA2U classes:

  • are open to students attending the school, organization or group hosting the class
  • are project-based, in-depth classes that offer application of STEAM concepts in a supportive environment
  • have no required tests, homework or grades
  • are generally small with 5-15 students per instructor
  • can be tailored to accommodate specific needs, interests and learning goals
  • are taught by content-area experts
  • support students in developing skills needed to meet Next Generation Science Standards
  • include our Girls Engage Technology classes!

Request a Class

  • How to Schedule a Class
  • Class Logistics
  • Tuition & Registration Models
Select from the following:
  • Identify a facilitator for your student group who will work with SA to schedule the class, communicate with families, and if possible, attend the class to support students as needed. If your student group is part of an organization, the facilitator will also request permission from an organization lead or school principal to host an online class.
  • Talk with your students to identify a class topic(s) or subject, such as science, tech, engineering, arts, math, writing, medical, or college prep.
  • Determine options for class timing and frequency, between six and twelve hours total. Classes are generally held once per week, or Mon. - Fri. for up to 90 minutes a session.
  • Contact amber@saturdayacademy.org with an outline of the details above to discuss details, including a tuition and registration model.
  • Saturday Academy will then reach out to our base of community experts to design and schedule a class.

  • For online classes, students will need access to a computer, webcam, and internet. They will meet electronically using Zoom and a shared Google folder. Login instructions will be shared with students in advance of the class start date.
  • For technical assistance before and during class, including access to computers or the internet, contact our Operations team at 503-200-5858 or email info@saturdayacademy.org.
  • If a class is cancelled due to emergency weather or illness, we will do our best to reschedule.

Organization/School Model

  • $175 per contact hour, paid as one sum to Saturday Academy by the school/organization. (ex.: 1.5 hour class meeting eight times for 12 hours total is $2,100)

  • The organization facilitator is responsible for advertising the class and registering the students.
