Saturday Academy to You (SA2U)

Bring SA2U classes to your student group

Browse SA2U Classes Catalog

SA2U brings Saturday Academy’s hands-on, in-depth classes taught by community experts to your neighborhood organization, group or school. Currently, our classes are online only.

Community organizations, schools or parents may request a class for their student group (see details below). Students groups generally range from 5 to 15 students.

Thanks to generous donors and sponsors, grant funding for classes with community based organizations is available. Tuition assistance is also available to students in all of our classes.

SA2U classes are:

  • are open to any student attending the school or who are a part of the organization hosting the class
  • are inquiry- and project-based classes that offer application of academic concepts in a supportive environment
  • have no tests, homework or grades
  • are generally small with 6-12 students per instructor
  • can be adjusted to accommodate specific academic ability levels and learning goals
  • are taught by content-area experts (subject to instructor availability)
  • support students in developing skills needed to meet Oregon State Benchmarks and standards

No tests, no grades, just curiosity!

  • How to Schedule a Class
  • Class Logistics
  • Tuition & Registration Models
Select from the following:
  • Identify a facilitator for your student group who will work with SA to schedule the class, communicate with families, and if possible, attend the class to support students as needed. If your student group is part of an organization, the facilitator will also request permission from an organization lead or school principal to host an online class..
  • Talk with your students to identify a class topic(s) or subject, such as science, tech, engineering, arts, math, writing, medical, or college prep.
  • Determine options for class timing and frequency, between six and twelve hours total. Classes are generally held once per week, or Mon. - Fri. for up to 90 minutes a session.
  • Contact SA2U@saturdayacademy.org with an outline of the details above to discuss details, including a tuition and registration model.
  • Saturday Academy will then reach out to our base of community experts to design and schedule a class.

  • For online classes, students will need access to a computer, webcam, and internet. They will meet electronically using an online platform called Moodle. Login instructions will be shared with students in advance of the class start date.
  • For technical assistance before and during class, including access to computers or the internet, contact our Operations team at 503-200-5858 or email info@saturdayacademy.org.
  • If a class is cancelled due to emergency weather or illness, we will do our best to reschedule.

Organization/School Model

  • $165 per contact hour, paid as one sum to Saturday Academy by the school/organization. (ex.: 1.5 hour class meeting eight times for 12 hours total is $1,980)
  • Some classes may require an additional materials or equipment rental fee (see class descriptions for details).
  • The organization facilitator is responsible for advertising the class and registering the students.

Individual Student Model

  • $95 per student for a six-hour class (1.5 hour class meeting four times)

OR

  • $175 per student for a twelve-hour class (1.5 hour class meeting eight times)
