Since 1990, the Apprenticeships in Science & Engineering Program, known widely as ASE, has been providing life-changing career connected learning opportunities to Oregon and SW Washington high school students. As the world continues to evolve, so has ASE, expanding to include internships outside of the original scope of “science & engineering” to meet the diverse interests of our students, align with our STEAM-driven mission, and spark curiosity for generations to come.
Dr. Mairin Balisi is the Augustyn Family Curator at the Raymond M. Alf Museum of Paleontology in Claremont, Los Angeles County, California. She is an expert in the evolution of mammalian carnivore communities, using fossil evidence to understand how environmental changes have shaped biodiversity on the scale of thousands to millions of years.
