The ACT is a widely accepted college entrance exam that closely reflects what students have studied through the end of junior year of high school. It is often used to determine scholarship awards. The ACT test differs from the SAT test in that it contains a science section (based on critical thinking skills, not testing factual knowledge), allows calculators for the entire math portion, and features an optional essay section based on analyzing complex issues as opposed to the literary analysis-based essay of the SAT. This class will prepare you for the math, English, reading and writing portions of the test through direct instruction and practice tests. Test-taking strategy is also covered. Get ready for the following 2019 test dates: Open-registration tests on 2/9, 4/13; In-school tests on 2/20 (Portland Public Schools) and 4/2 (Beaverton School District).
