Unlock the secrets of the many plants in Portland Audubon's Nature Sanctuary and surrounding green spaces as we harvest, gather, move through the woods and pick only the plants we know for wildcrafting. We’ll learn all about ethical harvesting practices and look to understand the value of plants picked for their beneficial and medicinal uses. Spend your days wandering the forest with our expert staff, in search of plants that will guide inspiration for crafted works of art that might include basketmaking, rope making and salve production. Join Portland Audubon staff for a day in our plant nursery, replanting, caring for and propagating plants for restoration. At the end of the week, we’ll craft and explore the Bull Run Watershed on a two-night excursion to Marmot Cabin outside of Sandy. This class is led by Portland Audubon.
Field trips are subject to change but to date include the Sandy River, Mt Tabor, Portland Audubon and an overnight stay, Wednesday night and Thursday night, at Audubon's Marmot Cabin near Sandy, Oregon.
