Earthquakes. Fires. Floods. When disaster strikes, our communities need leaders who are trained to manage both emergency response and long-term recovery efforts. In this field-based class, you’ll meet emergency managers and go behind the scenes of what they do every day: plan for continuity of vital operations, repairing and restoring our utilities, and protecting the health and well-being of individuals facing disasters large and small. With the support of the Multnomah County Emergency Management team, we'll run exercises in radio communication, triage, equity in disaster management, and more. Finally, when systems go down, people have to rely on each other: learn how to organize your neighbors and be resilient in the face of emergencies.
