Enter our imagination lab to combine new and exciting ingredients for dynamic reactions! As elements collide, our makers learn the fundamentals of science in worlds they invent. This intersectional class combines the skills of a scientist with those of an artist to generate what is sure to be the highlight of the week. This class culminates in a special sharing for families.
In this class, students will create a planet together. For the first part of each session, we will discuss a specific theme (oceans, volcanos, plant life, etc.) and talk about how these exist on Earth or other planets in the Solar System. In the second half of the session, the students will incorporate this theme into our classroom planet. Each student will be the creator of a different region of this planet, and they get to decide what their region looks like, who lives there, etc. By the end of the class, we will put all of the regions together to create a map of the entire planet.
Christopher (He/Him) holds a BS in Environmental Science and Writing from the University of Vermont. He has led students through the Cascade Mountains to maintain trail networks and through the imaginary realm of D&D to slay dragons. Whether it's in this world, or an imaginary one, Christopher has a knack for exploring.
