Join architects with Opsis Architecture, a local architecture and interior design practice, and explore what it's like to have a career in architecture! Through a virtual office tour, a series of at home, hands-on exercises, followed by discussion and feedback, students will gain insights into the profession of architecture. We will examine how we use and create environments to work, live, and learn, and how the recent shift to working and learning from home has influenced how we think of space. Take a closer look at the architectural process and the importance of an inclusive and open-minded approach to community engagement, collaboration, and visual and verbal communication. Towards the end of class, students will have the opportunity to ask questions about architectural education and practice.
Students will need access to a computer, webcam, and internet. They will meet electronically using an online platform called Moodle. Login instructions will be sent to the email address associated with the account in advance of the class start date. For questions related to supplies or if you need technical assistance including accessing required equipment or the internet please call 503-200-5858 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Hands on exercises will require some readily available materials that can be found at home: colored paper (can be from magazines), cardboard (can be recycled boxes), pen, pencil, colored markers or pencils, glue, tape, and a note pad or sketchbook. A more detailed list will be sent to registered students prior to class.
