“Wilderness is more than a natural place, more than a place for recreation. It is a place for inspiration.” — National Park Service
Our very own Chief Development and Marketing Officer, Laura Elmore, embarked on an exciting expedition this January. Laura will be touring all 62 National Parks as part of her personal journey to explore and share methods for healing in nature or ecotherapy.
We are truly inspired by her courage to follow her passion –quite literally through mountains, valleys, rivers, and woods. It will be a year-long journey that will take her all the way from the U.S. Virgin Islands to Alaska and American Samoa. The National Parks were established in 1916 and have helped preserve such incredible landmarks as the Grand Canyon, Carlsbad Caverns, our very own Crater Lake, and Hawai’i Volcanoes.
While we are excited for Laura, we are also sad to lose her as a key member of the Saturday Academy team. Under Laura’s leadership, we have grown our grants and development portfolio year after year. She has made important connections in our community and has help raise the visibility and impact of Saturday Academy. Our organization is stronger due to her hard work! She has been an invaluable colleague and her optimism and work ethic will be greatly missed.
Saturday Academy will be recruiting a full-time Development and Marketing position soon, so keep your eyes peeled for more information.
Please join us as we wish Laura safe travels! We can’t wait to hear about the journey and to be inspired by our incredible natural world. To learn more about Laura’s journey and support her endeavor, please check out her GoFundMe.
