Jakayla Robinson is a graduating senior studying physics at the University of Alabama at Birmingham with over five years of python programming experience. She has worked with planetary scientists at SETI, The Search for Extraterrestrial Life, studying the rings of Saturn and how moons are formed within them.
Jakayla is passionate about getting students involved in science and looking at education as a lifelong journey that is seen in everyday life-not just in a textbook during school hours. She believes that a balance between mindfulness and persistence is the key to success. Jakayla has plans to implement physics based ideas to real world applications from searching for exoplanets in space to making our society here on Earth advanced, but self sustainable. After a long day of work, you can catch Jakayla somewhere in nature hiking, traveling around the world, or curled up on the couch reading a good sci-fi novel.
She began teaching at Saturday Academy in 2021, and looks forward to igniting a fire in the minds of students in underrepresented communities. She currently teaches Astronomy: Exploring the Universe, History & Philosophy of Science and Career Development. She teaches online only and is available on weekends.
