Main Room -

  • Opening Remarks and Recognition Ceremony
Key Note Speaker: Xiao-Yue Han, Surgical Resident at Oregon Health & Science University and ASE Alumni

    About the Keynote Speaker:
Dr. Xiao-Yue (pronounced “shy-you”) Han is a 4th-year surgery resident at OHSU. A native Oregonian, he worked as an engineer in Bend, Oregon before attending OHSU for medical school and continues there for general surgery training. He is interested in pursuing pediatric surgery and continues to develop technology in the surgical environment as a “surgineer” in training.

He was a graduate of Westview High School in 2007 and participated in the Saturday Academy ASE Program under Dr. David Sahn at OHSU, developing an in vitro model to study cardiac mechanics and dynamics using ultrasound. His time in Dr. Sahn’s lab synthesized his early love of applied math and science and nurtured his great love of the outdoors.

Dr. Han loves to ski, bike, travel, cook, and spend time with his wife and two Siberian huskies in his home in SW Portland.
