Ian Hagglund is a student educator and engineer with a passion for hands-on learning and inclusive design. With a background in mechanical engineering and robotics, Ian focuses on empowering students to explore technology through curiosity, creativity, and collaboration. His teaching emphasizes real-world problem solving, interdisciplinary teamwork, and building confidence through prototyping and iteration.
Ian is a rising senior at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where he’s working on both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Robotics. co-founded a student-led robotics initiative focused on advanced experimentation beyond the classroom, and has organized workshops on topics ranging from embedded systems to user-centered design. He brings years of experience in both formal and informal education settings—including mentoring with Bustin’ Barriers, assisting with the Northwest Fencing Center summer camps, a FIRST Alumni, and supporting engineering education research in WPI's Robotics Program.
Originally from Helvetia, Oregon, Ian spent seven years in FIRST, including four on FRC Team 2374 at Jesuit High School. When he’s not buried in homework or building something, you’ll probably find him fencing, playing board games, or adding yet another mini to his ever-growing tabletop collection.
