Careers in Maritime! Days Off @ Foss Maritime!
Join Saltchuk companies Alaska Tanker Company (ATC), Overseas Shipholding Group (OSG), and Foss Maritime (Foss) for a day focused on careers in the maritime industry. The maritime industry offers a wide range of career paths—on ships, in ports, in offshore energy, in logistics, in engineering, in safety, and even in environmental protection.
Students may:
- Tour a Foss tugboat.
- Don a survival suit and Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).
- Participate in a controlled, hands-on “tank entry” workshop with a certified marine chemist, using atmospheric testing meters to determine the safety of an enclosed space, such as a cargo hold or ballast tank.
- Learn about weather and vessel monitoring at the Fleet Monitoring Center.
- Attend a career panel with professionals from various sectors at leading maritime companies.
The maritime industry offers adventure, a flexible lifestyle, sailing apprenticeships, strong income potential, clear promotion ladders, and meaningful work. Come “sea” what it’s all about!
