Stefanie Foster received her M.Ed from Portland State University and was promoted to head of the math department at the school where she teaches 6th grade. She is a licensed teacher and learning specialist who owns her own tutoring business and she is also fluent in conversational Spanish! Stefanie is a 2nd generation American raised by Filipino and Nicaraguan families, thus very culturally diverse. Additionally, if she ever wrote a cookbook of family recipes, it would be pretty interesting....and delicious.
She believes that the most important and successful academic retention happens through impassive activities that match the interest and strength of the students rather than passively feeding learners information. She also follows peer reviewed scientific research on cognitive neurology and seeks ways to develop activities that create connections to learners' prior knowledge.
“Learning should be fun and relevant.”
A fun fact about Stefanie: Stefanie also loves Alice in Wonderland and had a themed wedding where all guests came in costume. The Caterpillar officiated her wedding, and the King and Queen of Hearts were their best man and maid of honor.
