Sunny (they/them/theirs) has over a decade of experience working with children through the many facets of education and care. Hailing from Dallas, Texas, Sunny cultivated a passion for specialized youth education as a drama and art teacher. Going on to obtain their BFA in Acting from Oklahoma City University, they fell in love with the art of play and brings that into their work with children. Having the opportunity to develop curriculum and programs for OKC’s non-profit children’s theater, Sunny turned a passion into a life-long purpose of wanting to provide educational spaces for kids. From their years of working both inside and outside the classroom, they’ve witnessed at the intersection of curiosity and play is where true personal growth and understanding resides. Their hope is to forever continue their career in being able to meet kids at this intersection and foster their own sparks.
When Sunny isn’t working, you can usually find them under a waterfall or admiring the mossy forests of the PNW. They enjoy working in their garden and taking their cat out for walks (keep Portland weird!) when the weather permits. When they’re not outside, they enjoy playing board games with friends and listening to music.
