    Pop Science

The first thing that I distinctly remember learning in school was the science of bubbles during second grade. To clarify, it wasn’t the first thing I ever learned, and I sincerely apologize to the English alphabet, the Hindu-Arabic numerals, and the melody to “Peaches en Regalia” if they felt snubbed by my introductory sentence. The students in my class today were marveling over my Bluetooth mouse and how far it could get from my computer and still work. I told them there was an famous scientist who created a technology that made Bluetooth work and asked them what they thought the scientist looked like.

“Um, he probably has a beard,” they guessed.

ASE Intern takes his research from Corvallis to Stockholm

Matthew Sundberg was a 2015 ASE Intern as a high school sophomore. Now, less than a year later, he is the first author on a paper accepted by the International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA). How did he make the journey from his internship at an Oregon State University lab to the 2016 IRCA conference in Stockholm, Sweden? We spoke with Matthew to learn more.
