    A Voyage into Teaching

I served in the United States Navy for twenty six years. While in the Navy I went to various electronic schools. I have worked on Guided Missile Systems, Gun Systems and Submarine Torpedo Systems. The first part of my career I spent on Destroyers, the last part of my Naval career I spent on Fast Attack Submarines and Fleet Ballistic Missile Submarines. I have traveled to the Philippines, Hong Kong, Singapore, Mid East, Europe, Asia, Australia, American Samoan Islands, Artic Circle, Guam, Midway, Tasmania, Taiwan, Sicily and  have been stationed from Maine to Washington.

The summer of 2016 was packed full of milestones for Roosevelt High School junior Ashlei Brady. She tried out for the varsity soccer team, got behind the wheel for the first time and successfully completed her first professional internship. As an intern with Saturday Academy’s Apprenticeships in Science and Engineering (ASE) Program, Ashlei worked full-time for eight weeks at an engineering and architect firm in Portland.

    Adventures of a Photographer

As a current college student, I am working towards my future career of becoming a Teacher. Thanks to Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization, I had the great opportunity to learn and intern at Saturday Academy in N Portland. Before this I had no idea this amazing organization existed. As a Photography intern, I was placed in many of the classes Saturday Academy has to offer to our young children and youth.

    Working Together

They ask "Do we have to trade?" "Can we tear this up?" "What counts as a bridge" "What does look alike mean?"  I ask "What's the first number with an 'a' in it?" "What column of the periodic table are Halogens?" "What percent of ocean water is salt?" These are the conversations happening during the ASE Midsummer Conference Activity.
