Mo Eskayo

Educator

Rimona (Mo) Eskayo (they/them) is a Portland-raised artist, educator, and longtime camp enthusiast. They’re excited to join the Saturday Academy team this summer to put the A in STEAM!

Rimona has facilitated artist residencies and programming for a thrift-store-turned-art-museum, co-organized a socially engaged arts conference at a major US museum, developed a community-centered artist fellowship program in rural central California, and taught art and design students at universities including USC and Iowa State. They’ve also worked in more commercial settings as a graphic designer, copywriter, and creative director. Currently, they work across the city with Portland’s K-12 students as a guest educator for Portland Public Schools.

As an independent artist, Rimona has given talks and led workshops at Sexual/Gender Minority Youth Resource Center, Whitman College, Independent Publishing Resource Center, Sonoma County Library, SWANA Rose Cultural and Community Center, and Portland State University’s Trans Action and Care Conference. In 2022, they wrote, designed, illustrated, and published their first book!

Rimona believes in the power and imagination of youth! As an educator, they learn from their students just as much (sometimes more!) as they teach.

Fun fact about Mo: They have always loved to read! As a kid, they turned their bedroom into a magical place they called the Starlight Library. They created their own catalog system and had their family check out books.
