In-Person Cover Letter Writing Workshop #1

ASE is offering several workshops to help students develop their cover letter writing and interviewing skills. Please begin your online ASE Application before registering for a workshop. We will be verifying that registrants have an open application before sending out meeting information. Each applicant can register for one Cover Letter Workshop and one Interview Skills Workshop. When you are choosing which workshop(s) to register for, make sure to pay attention to the location. This workshop will be in person at University of Portland.

ASE Virtual Symposium

The Apprenticeships in Science and Engineering (ASE) Symposium is the culminating learning event of the summer and enables the students to organize and synthesize their internship experiences. ASE interns present their work through 10-12 minute oral presentations. Participants review and ask questions of peers’ projects and conclusions.  This enrichment activity is designed to broaden technical exposure and improve interns’ speaking and presentation skills. This is a required event for all ASE interns.

ASE Midsummer Conference

The ASE Midsummer Conference is a chance for ASE interns to explore diverse career paths with specialists in their fields, and learn about college preparation and how to get ready for the ASE Symposium on August 10th. This is a required event for all ASE interns.

Highlights from the First Annual ASE Alum Summer Mixer

Every year our Apprenticeships in Science and Engineering (ASE) Program turns out a cohort of new STEAM professionals. We first meet these students during the application process, we get attached to them at Orientation and Midsummer Conference, and we are wowed by them when they present at Symposium. Before we know it the summer is over, we’ve sent out our last intern communications, and we are starting the cycle over again with a new set of students. But what happens as they transition from ASE interns to ASE alums?
