Just Try It – STEM Career Exploration

As students approach their senior year, it seems the number of people who ask “so what do you plan to do next?” increases exponentially. For those who have known what they want to do since forever, the answer is easy. For the majority of students, however, it’s a big question.

The good news is that committing to one career and workplace for the rest of your life is a relic of previous generations. The bad news is that becoming good at any skill or career can take a lot of time and money, so the sooner you find something that you enjoy doing day-in and day-out the better.

    About the Program
The Apprenticeships in Science & Engineering (ASE) program connects motivated high school students with mentors in pre-professional science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) internships. Internships are eight-week, full-time summer positions, designed by mentors themselves.

    Photography: From Inspiration to Community

As a photographer who was inspired in my youth, I now enjoy inspiring, empowering and encouraging children to communicate what is important to them. In teaching photography, I help my students find and develop their voice.

    Strategic Plan

I am happy to announce Saturday Academy’s new strategic plan[1] recently ratified by our board of directors[2].  After 36 years of solid, stable programs, what’s to plan?  Strategic plans focus the organization and set priorities for change.  We are fortunate to have many more opportunities, class topics, new partnerships, ideas for entirely new programs than we have time to do them.  Our plan helps us focus. We also have many operational and program improvements we’d like to accomplish.  So again, our plan sets the priorities for what we’ll tackle each year.
