Lam Research Volunteers with Saturday Academy

From Northeast Portland to Tualatin, Saturday Academy receives support for classes and camps through volunteer opportunities!
Jan 29, 2019

Saturday Academy recently worked with the wonderful Women in Engineering group at Lam Research while being tasked to sort LEGO® kits for our classes and camps at Saturday Academy. You may ask…What does LEGO® sorting entail? Saturday Academy offers a variety of classes using LEGO®s to explore subjects like engineering, robotics, and physics to challenge thoughts and enhance creativity! But anyone who has experience with LEGO®s knows that they can get incredibly disorganized... That’s where Lam Research employees came in and saved the day! With roughly 30 volunteers present at the event, we were able to successfully complete 10 full kits and 5 partial kits within an hour time frame. Volunteers were tasked with tackling a LEGO® kit per group; sorting through bins of random LEGO® pieces to find the exact pieces necessary to complete the kit.

Our completion of this adventure couldn’t have been possible without the generous help and super sorting skills from the Women in Engineering group at Lam Research.
