Looking back on my internship experience, the people made this internship most memorable to me. I had the opportunity to connect with undergraduate students actively seeking jobs in an industry that I intend to enter, talk with future employers, and learn about the upcoming needs of this industry and how I can best serve them in the next decade from these professionals. This gave my internship a valuable perspective beyond just the relevant technical skills that I developed and has concreted my certainty in taking my career forward in electrical engineering. - Alex M, 2024 Algorithm Design Intern - 3D Computer Vision
My most favorite and memorable part of my internship experience was shadowing mice injections for my project. This was a particularly special moment as I had a lot of theoretical knowledge about mice injections and in-vivo testing due to reading and learning about it from textbooks and other resources. Thus, it was a fascinating experience to be able to witness the event in real life and be able to see how my theoretical knowledge works in reality, highlighting only one out of the countless valuable moments during my internship that I will treasure. - Srija A, 2024 Research in Developing Novel Viral Vectors for Human Gene Therapy Intern
Overall, the most impactful part of my internship experience was getting to work in a research laboratory-an environment I had never experienced before. Every day, I looked forward to learning something new and seeing how each individual's work and techniques contributed to the larger goal of furthering scientific knowledge in order to improve lives. I'm truly grateful for the chance I had to contribute, learn from experienced scientists, and be a part of something bigger than myself-an experience that I hope will have a real-world impact in the search for an AD treatment. - Aline LR, 2025 Alzheimer's Therapeutics Research Intern
The most memorable part of my internship was realizing that in science, experiments rarely work perfectly on the first try. While troubleshooting my project, I came to appreciate that persistence and trial-and-error are a normal part of the research process. This realization made the small successes in the lab especially rewarding and gave me a stronger understanding of what it means to contribute to real scientific discovery. - Ayu K, 2025 Extreme Virus Structure Research Intern
ASE had a huge impact on my college career, since I spent the first 3 years of my undergraduate degree working in the lab I had interned at through ASE. On top of my research, my choice of major was influenced by my work at the lab, which has improved my life and led to the career I have today. - Johnathan VW, Senior Software Engineer at Google, 2010 Graphical User Interface for Running Robots Intern
