    Instructor Spotlight: Carolyne Haycraft

One of my favorite aspects of my job at Saturday Academy is that I get to meet with our amazing instructors to find out more about their passions and hear their stories. For eight weeks, Kate worked full-time at the Portland VA Medical Center under the direction of three mentors. Kate was a bit overwhelmed at first, working in a lab 40 hours a week with esteemed researchers and accomplished graduate students.

Top Three Reasons to Volunteer with Saturday Academy

Flashback to three months ago, before I began considering the ways in which I could engage myself philanthropically, my day-to-day seemed… okay. Just, okay. Pretty blah, if I’m being honest. But my life was hardly lacking in scheduled commitments. Some days felt insurmountable, and my reward for scaling to the top didn’t leave me feeling purposeful.
