Allison (she/her/hers) has been working in the realm of community-based education with focuses in science communication, environmental education, and service-learning. The core of her work revolves around building community and cultivating curiosity that inspires others to notice and engage with the world around us. She finds enormous value in the mutual learning and symbiosis between students, peers, educators, and our other human networks.
Allison has worked previously as an educator with Saturday Academy, as well as at a Planetarium and Parks District in Portland and in Wisconsin, where she lived prior to 2020. She enjoys connecting students and learners of all ages, experiences, and identities to topics in the natural and physical sciences while integrating arts, math, engineering, technology, and applications as related to our lives and cultures.
Allison has a BA in Journalism, with an emphasis on science communication and climate reporting. She has spent other parts of her career developing community service programs at Lewis & Clark College, serving with AmeriCorps, and volunteering around the Portland area.
Outside of work, Allison spends her time immersed in the wonders of the West Coast with friends, tree-climbing, cloud-spotting, and tending to her pet cat, garden, and quails.
