Sandy Jewell, MEd

Classes Coordinator

Sandy Jewell is a native Oregonian and a life-long learner with a love of education, science, and travel. As a child she always wanted to use the big scissors and could be found playing school with stuffed animals and friends. As an adult, she pursued her goals by attending Western Oregon University and Portland State University where she earned her M. Ed. in 2000. This began a 20-year career teaching STEM and general ed in K-8 classrooms in Portland Metro area, as well as working with summer programming at OMSI. Realizing she wanted to broaden her teaching audience and expand her knowledge; she recently completed the Masters in Technical and Professional Writing Program at PSU. Sandy is excited to combine her education, science, program management, and tech writing backgrounds into the dynamic atmosphere of Saturday Academy. Sandy also enjoys volunteering in her local school district teaching art and science and working with high school students at the college and career center. At home and on the weekends you can find Sandy spending time with her family and feline companions. She can often be found outside hiking, gardening, frequenting local restaurants and coffee shops, and enjoying all the PNW and beyond has to offer.
