Scott Isler (he/him) has taught science for over 49 years with his very first education job as a Junior Counselor at Multnomah Co. Outdoor school back in 1974. After graduating with his BS in Biology from U of O, Scott worked all over the Portland Metro area! Bopping around from the OMSI, to Oregon Episcopal School, to even the Oregon Zoo, Scoot finally landed at Saturday Academy in 2005 teaching LEGO Physics, and the rest is history. LEGO Physics went on to become a staple in every season’s programming since, and for good reason. Teaching students about physics, engineering, and robotics with a mighty tool like LEGOs has allowed countless students the opportunity to discover and deepen their spark for STEAM. He comes back year after year because there is no greater gift to Scott than inspiring the next generation of thinkers and makers.
His mantra is that teaching has a Zen quality of being a priceless occupation.
“No amount of money can buy an “ah ha” moment, and you can put none of it in a bank.”
A fun fact about Scott: Over the 18 years of teaching with Saturday Academy, he has taught over 500 classes with us!
