Virtual reality (VR) is a simulated experience that can be very similar or different from the real world. The goal of VR is to convince the brain that the user is present in the virtual world. VR has a wide variety of applications including gaming, education, and training, among others. The market cap for VR is expected to grow exponentially over the next decade.
The intern will collaborate with a group of researchers at Portland State University and help them with testing the course material for the VR class that is developed for undergraduate and graduate students at PSU. Specifically, the intern will go through five lab sessions and implement both VR and AR applications. The intern will also be provided with a VR headset and will be provided with an opportunity to develop a VR application. This internship would require a student who can self-learn some of the material. The mentor will provide slides with step by step details. Learn more about the mentor and his research here.
This is a part-time internship, with the expectation that the intern will work at least 200 hours over the course of the summer. Applicants must currently be in 11th grade (rising to 12th grade).
