Meet Julian Kosanovic!
Julian, BA in Cello Performance, has experience in engineering project management and a variety of computer languages. They served as the IT Associate for Saturday Academy over the summer of 2019, providing support to staff and instructors alike. While Julian has a degree in Music Performance, they have always had an interest in programming and technology. They are also a cellist for the Portland Cello Project and the band, Human Ottoman. They currently are an instructor for two SA2U classes, Programming in Python for Beginners and Electronic Music, and will be teaching Wearable Electronics with Arduino and Programming in Python for Beginners again in the Winter/Spring term.
Julian is excited to share their passions in music and technology and to help bring STEAM education to kids in the Portland-Metro area. Julian first heard of Saturday Academy at their previous job as an engineering lab assistant. It was always a dream of Julian's to be able to combine their two interests of programming and music and share that knowledge as a teacher. Julian loves to create music in programs such as GarageBand and Sonic Pi, and their goal is to teach these same skills and industry knowledge to students. The Electronic Music class covers sampling, mixing, equalizing, music theory and the history of electronic music and hip-hop. Julian will guide students on how to listen for specific things that a producer has done to achieve a certain sound.
