I am happy to announce Saturday Academy’s new strategic plan[1] recently ratified by our board of directors[2]. After 36 years of solid, stable programs, what’s to plan? Strategic plans focus the organization and set priorities for change. We are fortunate to have many more opportunities, class topics, new partnerships, ideas for entirely new programs than we have time to do them. Our plan helps us focus. We also have many operational and program improvements we’d like to accomplish. So again, our plan sets the priorities for what we’ll tackle each year. Finally, it forces us to look at our progress each year and to set our vision over several years. Real change can take multiple years of planning, testing and execution. So a strategic plan helps Saturday Academy look now at what we want to be in the future. I hope you’ll help us shape our future.
Our plan sets four primary objectives:
- To continue to build equity and inclusion into our programs and our organization including more diverse staff and board members, students, donors, instructors, and mentors.
- To ensure sustainable growth to fulfill our mission
- To improve and grow the recognition of Saturday Academy and its reputation in the community
- To increase and improve our partnerships.
Cutting across all of these objectives is our need to listen and get advice from the community. We will be forming advisory committees of students, parents, and other educators and experts to advise us. I hope you’ll consider serving on an advisory committee. We have many great adventures ahead to fulfill your children’s curiosity and to prepare them for rewarding careers. I welcome your questions and feedback!
Thank you.
