The Institute on Development and Disability (IDD) is dedicated to advancing the knowledge of human development. Through our work with developmental disabilities, we are finding innovative ways to assist people with disabilities throughout their lifespan. Our work is accomplished through many venues, focusing on four primary areas:
•Clinical Service
•Public Health and Outreach Activities
•Education Programs
•Research Projects
The selected intern will assist in ongoing Child Development & Rehabilitation Center (CDRC) Physical Therapy research and clinical projects. The CDRC is committed to improving the lives of people with disabilities by supporting their participation as active, contributing members of their communities. Since they solely conduct clinical research, the intern would observe in clinics that are germane to research projects with which they are working. Currently the CDRC PT department has Institutional Review Board (IRB) approved studies in the general areas of neuromotor development, early mobility, powered mobility, and assistive technology. Duties may include but are not limited to initiating/updating project databases, data acquisition (following registration with eIRB and approval of project specific co-investigator status by eIRB), literature reviews, and discussion and analysis of data with researchers where appropriate.
The mentor's philosophy on mentorship is centered around universal design for learning. She is very flexible and wants to make sure everyone finds the joy in pediatric rehabilitation and the importance of research.

This internship will be hybrid, with 1-2 days per week in-person, as permitted by Federal/State/Local/OHSU guidelines. To reduce the risks of coronavirus exposure, mentors and interns will act in accordance with applicable COVID guidelines and procedures. Selected applicants will be required to review and sign a waiver agreement.
Please note: OHSU policy states that applicants must have received current and up-to-date vaccines for both Flu and COVID-19 (given after September 12, 2023) and have them recorded in Enterprise Health, or they must submit a declination form for the Flu or COVID vaccines in Enterprise Health. Applicants receive access to Enterprise Health during their onboarding. Applicants who decline to receive Covid-Flu vaccines must adhere to OHSU guidelines for the prevention of infectious disease.
If you have any questions about the application, website technical issues and/or this position description, please contact Saturday Academy at ase@saturdayacademy.org. Do not contact the mentor directly. Contacting the mentor directly is grounds for disqualification of your ASE application.
